The Oil City Main Street Program (OCMS) is a community-driven initiative focused on the revitalization of downtown Oil City. Services provided by OCMS include business assistance and support, promotional events & activities, physical improvements, and more. Nationally accredited by Main Street America, OCMS initiatives include a Façade Improvement Grant Program, the "Best Dressed Windows? contest, Outdoor Murals Program, "Music on the Square,? "Oil City Uncorked? Wine Walks, Oil City's Christmas Past & Jingle Bell 5K, seasonal décor & planting projects, Farmers' Market, shop local events, business support, and many others.

Established in 1967, the Northwest Pennsylvania Regional Planning and Development Commission (Northwest Commission) is a public, non-profit regional resource for economic and business development as well as community development and regional planning for the counties of Clarion, Crawford, Erie, Forest, Lawrence, Mercer, Venango and Warren. The Northwest Commission strives to produce private sector job creation and retention through its business and economic program such as government contracting, business financing, international marketing assistance, keystone innovation zones and business attraction. The Northwest Commission also provides community development and planning services such as grants, transportation, and technical assistance to municipal governments.

The Oil Region Alliance of Business, Industry & Tourism, is the lead economic development agency for the Oil Region which includes all of Venango County and the City of Titusville, Hydetown Borough, and Oil Creek Township in eastern Crawford County. The Work Program includes business retention, expansion, and recruitment; facilities management; marketing industrial sites; monitoring and assisting workforce development; community development and downtown revitalization; promoting the Region as a travel destination; publishing brochures, newsletters, and other documents; marketing the Oil Region to businesses and individuals; preserving cultural resources; enhancing and preserving natural and recreational resources; and coordinating the Oil Region National Heritage area. All these are in keeping with the mission "to increase the prosperity and population of the Oil Region"
