  • Jingle Bell Run (5K Run/Walk)

    9:00 AM
    Downtown Oil City - registration/awards at 206 Seneca Street
    5K Run/Walk in conjunction with Oil City’s 17th Annual Christmas Past. Race begins on Seneca Street near the Town Square and proceeds over Veteran’s Bridge, onto Front Street to and beyond the Oil City Marina, and return on the same course. Registration and awards will be in the Great Room of the National Transit Building. In addition to awards for runners and walkers, there will also be prizes for the Best Christmas-Themed Outfit (youth, teen & adult).   • Creative Peeps Art Club

    Creative Peeps are getting together once a month, on the 1st Saturday, to make art at the Coop. Join us as we explore different art mediums through a variety of fun projects. Each month we will focus on a particular subject or technique. At the end of the year, we will host an art show for all the Creative Peeps and their families! Ages 4+. (Children under 4 may join, but MUST be accompanied by an adult.) Deadline to register is November 1st or when space runs out. You are encouraged to register early to ensure your spot!

  • Oil Valley Quilters Guild

    Monthly meeting, Oil Valley Quilters Guild.
    Oil Valley Quilters Guild, National Quilting Association Chapter, is a non-profit organization dedicated to the preservation and education of quilting arts chapter of Membership is open to all who live in the Oil Region of Pennsylvania. Members of all skill levels are welcomed, from beginner to expert. Youth are given free membership with an adult member sponsorship. Membership dues are $25.00. Meetings include a program or presentation of quilting techniques. The guild participates in various charity and community outreach projects.

    Celebrate the 174th Birthday of John Washington Steele, aka "Coal Oil Johnny", the Oil Region's prodigal son at Venango Museum of Art, Science & Industry, 270 Seneca Street in Oil City. Local oil historian Neil McElwee will present "Coal Oil Johnny's Times" and tell the story of this
    interesting story of this man who was born in 1843. Birthday refreshments will be served.

    Eats & Sweets, an Entrepreneur Class at Oil City High School, is excited to announce a new event at the high library, a Christmas Craft Fair. It will be held on Friday December 15, 2017 from 3:00 pm – 7:00 pm. It is free admission. This event will gain entrepreneurial knowledge for Eats and Sweets and give entrepreneurs a chance to sell their products. We have a variety of vendors, a Chinese Auction (proceeds donated to Jamie’s Kids), baked potato bar, and snacks. Santa will even make an appearance, with an opportunity to get your picture with Santa!

  • First Night Oil City

    Oil City
    This year’s First Night® Oil City will offer a wide variety of outstanding entertainment complemented by two fireworks displays: a “Gusher Fireworks” display at 7:00 p.m. and a “Midnight Burst” at midnight. The action-packed, family-oriented, non-alcoholic celebration also will include outdoor bonfires at Justus Park and Central Avenue Plaza that are built by the City’s Public Works Department, with the Boy Scouts providing the wood and tending the fires. Early evening activities will include hat making, craft making, and a kickoff Cool Night Light People Procession that will begin at the Transit Building Gate. As always, there will be great food available about town and a shuttle bus to transport people from venue to venue. Over the past 19 years, those who attend First Night have often commented, “There’s so much to do - you won’t be able to do it all!"
